Mauricio Pochettino hails Tottenham handshake regime: 'Players can translate emotion'

Mauricio Pochettino says introducing a handshake regime has helped to improve the "dynamic" within Tottenham's squad.

Spurs players can often be seen practising 'secret handshakes' on the pitch, with Heung-min Son and Dele Alli notable ring leaders in front of the television cameras.

But the initial routine of exchanging the traditional greeting was established by Pochettino, who has insisted all of his players shake hands prior to training during his spell in charge at White Hart Lane.

And the Argentine coach is adamant the procedure ensures bad feelings cannot linger before Spurs start their working day on the training ground.

"It's very important to create a good dynamic," Pochettino told Tottenham's official website.

"When you touch a person you can feel, you can translate emotion.

"It's very important to try and create a better feeling from the beginning of the day and start to work in a different mood," he added.

Spurs were certainly in tune with eachother on Sunday afternoon as they swatted Stoke aside to climb to second place in the Premier League table.

The north Londoners remain 10 points adrift of pacesetters Chelsea but Pochettino is determined to capitalise on any mistakes by Antonio Conte's side make during the run-in.
