Max Parrot loves to spread his wings and fly

Surprise: Canada’s current top slopestyle snowboarder is a big fan of flying.

Max Parrot is an Olympic silver medalist and multiple time X-Games champion. The only thing that rivals the 23-year-old’s love of winning is his love of testing the limits of the human body while soaring through the sky at egregious speeds.

“I love being in the air, the feeing is just amazing. Not touching the ground, spinning, flipping, I really love it,” Parot said

Like many of the sports’ high-fliers, Parrot likes his music loud. Really, really loud. He may have his tunes blasting when he’s descending, but as soon as it’s time for a trick, the beats, base, vocals and treble quickly fade to silence.

“As soon as I hit a feature, whether it’s a rail or a jump, It’s no sound at all. I’m so much in my bubble, I’m living the moment so, so much that I just can’t hear the music.”

Parrot along with Mark McMorris won Canada’s first medals in PyoeongChang, with the former edging out the latter for silver in men’s slopestyle last week. He’ll be gunning for his second podium of the Games when he starts forth in the Olympic’s big air snowboarding debut Tuesday.
