Ipswich have agreed the loan capture of Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy on a three-month deal.
The 22-year-old will link up with his new team-mates on Monday morning, with the paperwork set to be completed over the following 24 hours.
That means McCarthy, who has represented England at Under-21 level, will go straight into Ipswich's squad for Wednesday's Championship encounter at Birmingham.
Town have made the move after David Stockdale was recalled by parent club Fulham in mid-December, bringing a premature end to his scheduled season-long loan stay in Suffolk.
McCarthy, due to remain with Town until April 11 unless Reading exercise a 24-hour recall clause, recently completed a brief loan stay at Leeds.
Meanwhile, Ipswich have terminated the contract of Ivar Ingimarsson by mutual consent. The centre-back joined as a free agent over the summer but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since his arrival, partly due to injury, and had slipped down the pecking order.
