Meghan Markle and Prince Harry return to work after six-week break

And the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back!

The couple stepped out on Tuesday — their first appearance of the year and the first since they've returned from their six-week sabbatical — to pay a visit to Canada House "to thank them for the warm Canadian hospitality and support during their trip."

As part of the royals' engagement on Tuesday, they also visited Canada Gallery to view an exhibition by Indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati. The duchess opted for a chic monochromatic look for the outing: A satin midi skirt by Massimo Dutti, which she paired with matching heels and a matching sweater.

After the palace confirmed the family of three would be "spending private family time in Canada," Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter in December to welcome the royals to the country.

“Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada,” he wrote. “You’re among friends, and always welcome here.”

Sightings of Harry and Meghan became somewhat common for Canadian locals on Vancouver Island, who often spotted Archie's parents hiking and jogging around Horth Hill Regional Park. One royal fan even got the surprise of a lifetime on New Year's Day after the Duchess of Sussex stepped in after a selfie slip-up!

“I’m a Suits fan and I first noticed Abigail and then I looked up and realized it was Meghan taking the photo," Canadian local Asymina Kantorowicz said about meeting the duchess. "Then I looked back at the group and realized Prince Harry was there too!”

"She seemed happy and down to earth — she was just enjoying her New Year’s hike with her husband and friend," she added said.
