Mets place Yoenis Cespedes on 10-day DL

Yoenis Cespedes' season is officially over.

There was a feeling Thursday night that Yoenis Cespedes may miss some time with an injury, but no one was truly positive.

Well, everyone is positive now.

This comes after the Mets lost their sixth consecutive games and 10 of their last 11. Cespedes is hitting .270 on the season but leading the team in home runs (6), walks (11) and doubles (4). He was second on the team in RBI (10) and base hits (17).

Since coming over to the Mets in a trade from the Tigers, the Cuban native 89 home runs and drove in 243 runs in 356 games.

Juan Lagares replaced Cespedes Thursday night, but it's uncertain if he'll be the first option in Cespedes' absence.
