Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp outfielder Monte Harrison didn’t have to scale the outfield wall on Saturday night to make a wild grab.

Yet since he did, and somehow still made the play, his move may go down as the play of the season across baseball.

Harrison, playing for the Miami Marlins’ triple-A affiliate in Jacksonville, nearly climbed all the way into the bleachers before diving back in to catch a fly ball on Saturday at Truist Field to end the inning in their game against Charlotte.

Now, Harrison completely misjudged the fly ball. It wasn’t going to make it out of the ballpark.

But even after he got up on top of the outfield wall, Harrison was able to get himself back to the ball to make the grab.

Undoubtedly, he’s now leading the race for play of the year.

The 25-year-old has spent most of this season with the Jumbo Shrimp, his eighth after he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2014. He’s played in 41 games for the Marlins over the past two seasons, too, and recorded 10 hits and eight runs.
