Michael Bisping Denies Rumor that He Declined Georges St-Pierre Fight
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping on Thursday shot down a rumor that he declined a fight with former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
St-Pierre hasn't set foot in the Octagon in nearly three years, but recently said that a trial training camp went well and declared himself ready to fight again.

“I did a training camp to see where I’m at … I didn’t fight, but I put myself through a training camp, and I sparred and everything, and I did it successful,” St-Pierre told The MMA Hour recently.
“I’m ready. I still feel that I’m at my best right now. The clock is running. I’m not getting any younger. I’m in my peak of my career, and if there is a shot, another goal, another run, I better do it and do it quick because it’s time to do it now.”
His longtime boxing coach, famed trainer Freddie Roach recently told FightHub that he witnessed St-Pierre's training and declared the former champion “looked really good.” He added that they didn't currently have any other specific opponent in mind for a return bout, but indicated that the former champ apparently tried to line up a fight with Bisping.
Asked specifically about rumors of a St-Pierre vs. Bisping bout, Roach said, “Yeah, I do like that fight, but Bisping said no. I know that fight's not going to happen.”
For his part, Bisping said that the fight was never offered to him, so there wasn't any opportunity for him to accept or decline it.
“I like Freddie Roach. He must be misinformed,” Bisping Tweeted. “He's not the type to spread lies. I wasn't even offered the fight.”
As it stands, UFC president Dana White recently said that Bisping would fight Dan Henderson next, and that they were hoping to make that fight in Manchester, England, in autumn.
White also shot down the idea of St-Pierre returning to the Octagon, saying he didn't believe the desire to fight was still there.
“I've been in this since I was 19 years old. I know the mentality of a fighter that wants to fight and I know the mentality of a fighter that does not want to fight,” said White in a media scrum prior to UFC 200. “I wholeheartedly believe you'll never see Georges St-Pierre in the Octagon again unless he's cornering somebody.”
