Michael Duff issues warning to Huddersfield Town ahead of Wigan Athletic showdown
Huddersfield Town head coach Michael Duff insists his side can “win any game at home” in League One if they perform to their capabilities as they take on Wigan Athletic next up at the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow night.
The Terriers will be chasing a seventh straight home victory in all competitions, with Town hosting the Latics in an 8pm kick-off.
Duff’s side sit fifth in the League One table, on 29 points from 16 matches played. Wigan are 15th in the division, on 20 points after 16 games. The visitors head into the clash off the back of winning their last four matches in all competitions, while Town are unbeaten in their last seven league games.

Whilst acknowledging the threat that the Latics could pose his team, Duff expressed confidence that his side can pick up another positive result.
“They’re a good team. They’ve not conceded many goals at all, I think they’ve conceded less than us,” said Duff. “A good away record, they’ve won their last [four] games. They play really expansive football, a young team, so with that brings energy.
“Sometimes it can be a good and a bad thing with a young team, because you catch them on a bad day and they can really, really hurt you, but then they’re probably a little bit more inconsistent than what they would want to be, based off the age [of the team].
“They’ve got some good players, and a real clear style and way of playing, which a lot of teams are doing at the minute. A tough challenge and a difficult opponent.
“They’ll definitely bring challenges, but with anyone in this league, if we turn up and deliver what we’ve shown we can – in moments and we’ve got better in recent weeks – then we’re more than a match for anyone.
“We have to be aware of their threats, and respect and be humble enough to know that they can hurt us, but having the mentality that if we rock up and deliver our best performance, then we can win any game at home.”
Discussing his side’s preparation for the Wigan match, Duff added: “The only way it’s altered our prep (not having a weekend game) is that we were in yesterday (Sunday). The lads are never [usually] in on a Sunday, but they weren’t getting a weekend off, because the only reason we didn’t have a game was because we got beat by Tamworth.
“We’ve just turned last week almost into a normal week, where we played on Tuesday, we were off Wednesday, in Thursday Friday, off Saturday, in Sunday Monday. It’s a run in for a normal week. We’ve tried to keep it as normal as possible.”
