Mickey Rourke shares photo from hospital after another 'nose surgery,' declares himself 'pretty again'

Mickey Rourke is on the mend after an apparent nose job.

The 65-year-old actor, who has said his side job as a boxer left him with some permanent bumps, posted a photo from his hospital bed after going under the knife. Next to him is Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Karan Dhir, MD, who specializes in nose, face, and neck surgery.

“Moments after nose surgery with Dr. Dhir. Now I am ‘pretty again’: (lol),” the Golden Globe winner for The Wrestler captioned the shirtless photo posted on the unverified account, adding, “I don’t know what day it is; don’t even realize operation is over.”

While that operation is behind him, there’s another one in his future. “One more to go,” he noted in the post.

Rourke didn’t specify what the procedure was for, but his nose was bandaged up. It’s not the first time he’s had work done on his face. Nearly a decade ago, the actor, who routinely appears on those lists of celebrities who have had plastic surgery, admitted that he had had more than five procedures on his face.

“Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,” Rourke, who spent some time as a pro boxer, told the Daily Mail in 2009.

He continued, “I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone. I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn’t healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was hemorrhoids.”

Well, then. That wasn’t the last we heard about Rourke’s plastic surgery, either. In 2012, the tabloid National Enquirer ran a photo from another face surgery he had had the year before. He was all bandaged up and virtually unrecognizable.

In 2015, “Page Six” reported on several more procedures, including a doctor taking bone from his rib to rebuild his nose, with a source claiming that the star was “hooked on surgery,” adding, “He wakes up in the morning and looks in the mirror and doesn’t like what he sees.”

Model Carré Otis, who co-starred with him in Wild Orchid and was briefly married to him, expressed a sentiment similar to the “Page Six” source’s. “When things are wrong on the inside, often people try and fix them on the outside,” she told Gear in 1999.

Otis also said that Rourke wouldn’t tell her that he was having work done until he appeared at home with bandages on his face. “It was a really sore subject,” she added.

A rep for Rourke has not yet responded to Yahoo Lifestyle’s inquiry about his latest procedure. However, a recent article on Yahoo Sports talked about how Rourke, who last dabbled in boxing two years ago, was thinking about lacing up the gloves once again. He said he was in talks with Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions to have his next fight in California.

Perhaps he should rethink that — or maybe try WWE wrestling instead.
