Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium has been voted one of the best away-days in the Championship.

Ahead of the final game of the calendar year at the Riverside, a study has placed the home of Boro joint-third in the list of Championship grounds for away supporters. The study was completed by OLBG who ranked each ground out of 10 based on numerous metrics.

They compared Championship grounds based on Google review scores, average beer and pie prices, the cost of parking, distances to the nearest train station, and the number of football-related arrests recorded at each ground. Boro's Riverside Stadium ended with a score of 6.4 out of 10, which was tied for third with Millwall's The Den. Only West Brom's The Hawthorns in second and Portsmouth's Fratton Park were ranked better.

Swaying a positive mark in Boro's favour was the cost of a pie, which is one of the cheapest at £3, while the nearest car park being just 0.1km from the ground proved a particular selling point also. It had a 4.5 out 5 star Google review rating too, 0.1 better than the Den.

The £3.60 cost of a pint was the joint-costliest in the top ten, alongside Coventry City's CBS Arena, while the distance to the train station was one of the longest. With 29 in total, the number of football-related arrests in or around the Riverside was only higher at Millwall and Norwich City in the top ten.

Burnley's Turf Moor, Luton's Kenilworth Road, Blackburn's Ewood Park and Sheffield United's Bramall Lane completed the top 10 best Championship grounds for visiting supporters. It meant the likes of Sunderland's Stadium of Light and Leeds United's Elland Road missed out on the top half. QPR's Loftus Road was voted the worst in the Championship thanks to a mix of high costs, with beer at £4.60 and pies at £3.60, and a bit of a hike to the nearest car park (0.9 km away), which costs £6.60.
