Chelsea face an important week of preparations as they face their latest Premier League test on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca's first match since being named manager of the month will be against top-flight leaders, Liverpool, when they travel to Anfield.

The Blues sit fourth in the table ahead of the encounter and could rise as high as second, should results go in their favour. The Italian has got off to a strong start as the new Chelsea head coach after a turbulent period in West London.

football.london has a look at the latest headlines.

Chelsea excitement

It is an exciting time for the Blues after their work scouring the South American market for the latest talents. They acquired Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian, fending off interest from Europe's elite, to win the race for their signature.

From next season, the Ecuadorian and Brazilian will be in the ranks at Cobham and looking to make their mark within the squad.

Estevao has offered an insight into their desire to adorn the famous Chelsea blue. He said: "When we faced each other in the Libertadores, he had already been negotiated and I was working out the details.

"But, in this last game for the national team (in September), I met him in Ecuador and we had already made arrangements.

"We talked a lot there. We talked about English, adaptations that will be difficult, but I think we have everything to make it work and it will be a great experience.

"He came over and asked me how I was feeling. He also said that it was really hard and boring to study English, but that he was learning too. He said he wanted to go there soon, he wanted to have that European experience. I said we’d be there soon.

"I think we can play together. Even though he plays more centrally today and I play more on the wing, I definitely think we can play together and it will be a good, healthy rivalry."

football.london says: Chelsea have spent millions on talent in their early 20's and so far this season, they have offered positive glimpses. But no Blues fan can predict what excitement two of Brazil's most anticipated talents will bring. They will need time to adjust to the squad, new surroundings and language, but the fact they're already displaying intent to play for Chelsea is a good sign for Maresca and co.

Cole Palmer's cheek message

Chelsea star Cole Palmer has fired a cheeky message to the rest of the Premier League's talismen. The former Man City prospect took the league by storm after his surprising move to the capital but he hasn't looked back.

He notched the top statistics and landed the PFA Young Player of the Year award. Palmer's form has sparked fresh debate as the clamour for him to be in the England starting 11 increases.

And in an interview with ITV, he made a cheeky quip to some of his England teammate and Premier League opponent. He said: "No player had more goal involvements last season and FPL points."

football.london says: Find a player with more confidence than Cole Palmer. And can you blame him? He's one of, if not, the first name on the Chelsea teamsheet and with each passing week, he is proving his weight in gold. Eyebrows were raised over his exit but City's loss is proving to be Chelsea's gain.
