Mikel Arteta has spoken directly to academy striker Chido Obi-Martin with the hope of keeping him at Arsenal amid interest from Bayern Munich, a new report has claimed.

The teenager has shown off his sensational finishing abilities this past season in Premier League under-18s action with 32 goals to his name from 20 appearances. In the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign, Obi Martin found the back of the net in nine successive games with five and seven-goal hauls arriving in that time.

As a result of his undeniable goal-scoring pedigree, top clubs across Europe have shown interest with Bayern Munich even making attempts to poach him from Arsenal's grasps.

A lucrative offer is said to have been made by the German giants following on from the Gunners' proposal to sign him to scholarship terms this summer. He would then pen a professional contract in late November when he turns 17.

While there were concerns he could depart, a new report has made it clear that Arsenal are confident he will stay following further conversations. As per X, formerly Twitter, account @AcademyScoop, Arteta held face-to-face talks with Obi-Martin to discuss his future.

As a result, it has been claimed there is internal confidence the Gunners will fend off Obi-Martin interest from elsewhere with a final decision and announcement expected soon. In those discussions with Arteta, it is very likely the Arsenal boss explained the first-team pathway for Obi-Martin, especially following departures for numerous academy stars.
