Mikel Arteta’s net worth, Miss Spain wife and new Arsenal salary after contract extension
Mikel Arteta has carved out a legendary status at Arsenal, both as a player and now as a manager.
After an impressive career that saw him play for the likes of PSG, Barcelona, Everton, Rangers, and Real Sociedad, Arteta arrived at the Emirates Stadium under Arsene Wenger in 2011. He spent the final five years of his playing career with the Gunners, making 150 appearances and winning back-to-back FA Cups and Community Shields in 2014 and 2015 before hanging up his boots to transition into management.
He joined Pep Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City in 2016, where he helped the team secure two Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, two community shields and an FA Cup before leaving the club in 2019 to take up the managerial reins at Arsenal.
Since then, Arteta has established himself as a respected figure in north London, leading Arsenal to second-place finishes in the Premier League in the last two seasons, as well as lifting the FA Cup in his first season and securing Community Shields in 2020 and 2023. But what does life look like for Arteta off the pitch? Here, Football London delves into his net worth, his lucrative salary at Arsenal and his family life...
Arteta's net worth
Arteta has amassed a significant fortune estimated at around $25million (£18.8m), according to Celebrity Net Worth. His 12-year stint in the Premier League with Arsenal and Everton, where he reportedly earned £75,000 per week for the latter, contributed significantly to this wealth, despite an alleged wage cut when he transferred to north London.
During his playing career, Arteta also benefited from profitable sponsorship deals with brands such as Adidas and Puma. The exact earnings from these partnerships remain undisclosed, as the Spaniard has always maintained a private stance regarding his personal finances, choosing instead to concentrate solely on his footballing career.

Arsenal salary
In 2020, it was reported that Arteta's annual salary as Arsenal manager was around £5million, totalling a cool £20million for his four-year contract from 2019 to 2023. However, he inked a fresh three-year deal this year, securing his position at the Emirates Stadium until at least 2027.
Currently, it is believed that Arteta earns approximately £8.3million per year at Arsenal - although no official figures have been confirmed regarding his base pay with the club. This equates to roughly £158,000 per week, positioning him as one of the highest-earning managers in the Premier League if accurate.
Peering into the finances of the footballing elite, it's reported that Pep Guardiola earns approximately $20million (£15m) annually at Manchester City. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag of Manchester United is said to be on a wage of around $9million (£6.7m) a year, even as United lingered in a surprising eighth-place in the 2023/24 Premier League season.
A wife of 14 years
It's been over two decades since Arteta and his wife Lorena Bernal first crossed paths in a nightclub in San Sebastian. Their connection was immediate upon meeting back in 2002, but they didn't start dating until roughly two years later.
At that time, Arteta's career had him with Rangers and Bernal was already a familiar face on television and in modelling, noted for her roles in Chuck and CSI Miami, along with her Miss Spain 1999 title at age 17 and subsequent top-10 spot in the Miss World pageant.
Now married for over a decade since their wedding in Mallorca during 2010, the Artetas now have three children: Gabriel, Daniel, and Oliver, all born in Spain. Reflecting on his other half during an intimate BBC interview earlier this year, Arteta shared: "She has changed my life. She has changed my perception about life."
He continued, highlighting the diversity of their experiences together: "We have navigated many, many different situations, some of them fascinating, some of them really difficult. I have that feeling with her that we never get bored. I can be sitting there five hours, 10 hours, go anywhere in the world and enjoy and have fun and laugh."
