Mikel Arteta's dream Arsenal XI if Edu completes £80m double summer transfer

Arsenal are in the market to sign a new centre forward this summer as Mikel Arteta tries to strengthen his squad after agonisingly missing out on the Premier League title.

The Gunners finished second, two points behind champions Manchester City, who lifted the top-flight for an unprecedented fourth year on the bounce. Arteta's side pushed City to the finish line but just could not get over in first and had to settle for a second straight second-place finish.

In a bid to improve and challenge for the title once again next season, Arsenal are eyeing up a move to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. Benjamin Sesko is someone who has emerged as a potential target, having impressed during the second half of the season at RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old scored in each of his final seven Bundesliga appearances this season and has been linked with a move away from Germany, despite only joining Leipzig last July. Alongside Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the other teams reportedly interested in his services.

Sesko has a €65million (£55m) release clause in his current deal, though a bidding war between a number of clubs could increase that price. Although Sesko still has four years left on his contract, Leipzig have already presented new terms to the forward, who is set to start for Slovenia at Euro 2024.

Despite scoring 91 goals in the Premier League - second in the division to Manchester City - during the 2023/24 campaign, Arsenal could do with a natural goalscorer in their ranks and Sesko has certainly shown that he can be capable of filling that void. Plus, if the Gunners can get him at his release clause, it would not be bad value for someone who might be worth a whole lot more should he impress in England.

Another area Arsenal may be keen to bolster is on the right hand side. Although the Gunners have Bukayo Saka as first-choice, if he suffers an injury there is no suitable replacement. Girona ace Viktor Tsygankov has been linked as a potential option to come in and sign this summer.

Tsygankov, 26, has scored eight goals and added seven assists for Girona this season and helped spearhead them to a place in the Champions League. He has been impressive, and the Gunners have already 'made contact' to sign him, according to reports. The Ukrainian has a release clause of €30m (£25.5m) in his contract.

Arteta believes Tsygankov would be a 'perfect' addition to his Arsenal squad as they prepare for another season in Europe's elite club competition. It would be an astute piece of business considering his age and valuation, though Tsygankov, who is predominantly a right winger but can play anywhere across the front line, would not start in their strongest and dream XI going into next season.

With that in mind, what would Arsenal's best starting XI be if Sesko and Tsygankov were to sign in the summer? takes a look below!

Possible Arsenal XI if Sesko and Tsygankov sign: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Rice, Havertz, Odegaard; Martinelli, Sesko, Saka
