Premier League club Fulham have offered a contract to AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli, according to reports.

The central defender joined the Rossoneri from AS Roma for around £22.5m in 2015.

He made 19 appearances in Serie A last term as his side won their first league title in over a decade.

The 27-year-old has played 247 times for Milan but he could leave this summer with his contract set to expire.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia (via Football Italia), Romagnoli is fielding a proposal from Premier League new boys Fulham.

The former Roma man was reportedly ‘dreaming’ of a move to Lazio, however, he is now ‘tired’ of waiting for them to make an offer.

Although he has an offer from Fulham, Romagnoli is keen to negotiate a new deal with Milan.

The Italian champions look to have lost out long-term target Sven Botman with a move to Newcastle United imminent, so they could look to extend their captain’s deal.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via Sport Witness) has stated that Romagnoli is still willing to wait for a proposal from Lazio.

Fulham, however, are ‘ready to close’ the deal with the Biancocelesti unable to offer a contract with Francesco Acerbi still on their books.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are going to ‘intensify their efforts’ to sign Leeds winger Raphinha ‘next week’, according to The Athletic.

Raphinha was excellent last term as he helped steer Leeds to Premier League safety, scoring 11 goals in 35 league encounters.

Arsenal have scheduled further talks with Raphinha’s representatives and are ready to up their bid in order to secure the player’s signature, as per David Ornstein.

The Athletic reporter states that there is a growing sense that Arsenal are ‘firm favourites’ to sign the Brazil international.

Furthermore, Raphinha is ‘open’ to the move despite the club’s lack of Champions League football, something that other interested parties can offer.
