Millwall kick off the new Championship season against Stoke at The Den on July 30 as they target another top-six push under Gary Rowett in 2022/23.

The Lions kept in touch with the play-off race for much of last term, but faced a tall order as they headed into the final day needing a lot of results to fall their way in order to sneak in dramatically at the last.

A defeat by already promoted Bournemouth ultimately ended their hopes, with Millwall now also having to accept the departure of key winger Jed Wallace, who will complete a free transfer to rivals West Brom.

Milwall face a tough start to the new second-tier campaign, with trips to Sheffield United, Swansea, Norwich and Burnley all coming up before the end of August.

Owing to the inaugural winter World Cup in Qatar, the Championship will pause in November, and Millwall travel to Preston in their final contest before that break on November 12.

Unlike the Premier League, which is back on Boxing Day, the Championship returns after the World Cup group stages are over on December 10. Millwall host newly-promoted Wigan in their first game back, with Watford, Bristol City and Rotherham all on the festive fixture slate.

Rowett’s men finish the season at home to Blackburn on May 6.
