The mindblowing wage increase figures for every Premier League club
The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa are spending over three times as much on wages now than they were 10 years ago, while things have also risen considerably for Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Back in the 2013-14, no club – not even newly-minted Manchester City – were spending an average of over £100,000 on a player’s wages. Fast forward 10 years and four clubs – Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool – have hit that mark.
Manchester United’s average wage spend back in 2013-14 was approximately 50,000 per week during the 2013-14 campaign – now the likes of Leicester, Crystal Palace and Everton are spending more than that on paying their players.
Thanks to Sporting Post, with wage data via Capology, we’ve taken a look at the average wages across every single Premier League club over the past decade, comparing the 2022-23 figure to the same figure from 10 seasons back.
For the clubs that weren’t in the English top flight back in 2013-14, we’ve gone back and included the numbers from the furthest back season over the period and compared how their average wages have grown over that time.
