Missing former MLB OF Otis Nixon found safe, police say

Police announced on Monday that Otis Nixon had been found and was safe, after the former Braves outfielder was reported missing.

Former MLB outfielder Otis Nixon, who was reported missing over the weekend, has been found safe, police in Woodstock, Ga., said via social media on Monday.

Authorities enlisted the public's help the previous day, with Nixon, who was a base-stealing catalyst for the standout Atlanta Braves teams of the early 1990s, having not been seen since leaving his home on Saturday morning to play golf.

A tweet from Woodstock Police on Monday confirmed positive news regarding their search.

It read: "UPDATE: Otis Nixon has been located and is safe. We appreciate the assistance from the public and media."

Nixon, 58, has battled substance-abuse issues for much of his adult life. He missed the 1991 World Series because he was suspended after testing positive for cocaine, and he has been arrested multiple times since his 17-season MLB career ended in 1999.
