Mistrial declared in Michael Slager murder trial

A South Carolina judge declared a mistrial in the murder case of former North Charleston, S.C. patrolman Michael Slager after the jury remained deadlocked for more than three days. Slager was charged in the shooting death of Walter Scott, an unarmed African-American man, on April 4, 2015. The shooting was caught on tape by a bystander and reignited the debate over race relations and policing in the United States. Prosecutors will now decide whether to retry the case with a new jury.
