New Mizzou recruit Michael Porter Jr. wants to play Terrence Phillips for No. 1 jersey

Now that Missouri landed Porter, the nation's No. 1 recruit wants to be numero uno for the Tigers and is willing to play one-on-one for it.

Now that Michael Porter Jr. has made his commitment to play basketball at Missouri, the nation's No. 1 basketball player wants to wear No. 1 for the Tigers.

There's just one problem: Porter's desired number is already worn by sophomore point guardTerrence Phillips, who has started every game for the Tigers the last two seasons.

Porter offered a solution, though. He will play Phillips one-on-one for the right to wear No. 1.

It doesn't seem like a fair bet considering Porter, the national high school player of the year, is a 6-10 swingman while Phillips is a 5-11 guard.

If new Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin decides to sanction such a contest, the Tigers might as well make it a showcase event. The two could also just find some other arrangement.
