What Mohamed Salah did at 10.30 pm underlines Liverpool commitment after Ipswich Town win
Mohamed Salah continued his love affair with the opening day of the season after scoring to ensure his Liverpool side got off to a winning start. The forward scored his side’s second during their 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
After a goalless first-half, the Reds opened the scoring on the hour mark when Diogo Jota converted Salah’s cross from close-range. The Egyptian then scored his first of the season five minutes later when he converted after collecting Dominik Szoboszlai's pass.
Salah completed the full 90 minutes for the Reds in Suffolk, but that didn’t stop him from taking in a bit of yoga just hours after his side’s win. Taking to Instagram, the forward posted a picture of him post-workout with the yoga emoji attached.
This is not the first time Salah has emphasised his commitment to his side. Following a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers back in December 2021, the forward took a picture of himself enjoying a late-night swim.
Speaking following the win at Portman Road, Salah said: "It was quite tough, the weather is really warm today, it was a tough team (Ipswich), I'm glad we won the game, and I’m always happy to make a difference for the team. That's the most important thing, the team won the game, so we just need to carry on.
"Hopefully I can keep going like this for the whole season and not just the first game. I’m always happy to score goals and give assists, so I just need to carry on.
"Jurgen (Klopp) was with the team for eight years, and gave everything, and now it’s a new manager, new system, it’s quite different for all of us, so we need to adapt, take it step by step, because some players also came late (after international commitments), so we need to know his way of playing and enjoy our football.
"We don't want to put more pressure on him (Slot), we just need to play football, enjoy our games, and see how it will end."
