Mohamed Salah dilemma at Liverpool becomes clear with new remarks on his 'attitude'
Louis Saha is surprised that Mohamed Salah is still playing for Liverpool and hasn't sought a challenge elsewhere. The 32-year-old signed a three-year contract worth £350,000 a week in 2022, making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool's history.
The Egypt international is yet to pen a new deal with Arne Slot's Reds and will be able to sign a pre-contract with a new club come January, as interest grows from Saudi clubs.
Former Manchester United striker Saha has cast doubts on whether Salah will remain a Liverpool player beyond the 2024/25 season, discussing the forward's attitude and feelings towards the Anfield club.
Speaking to Paddy Power, the 46-year-old said: "I'm a bit surprised that Mo Salah is still at Liverpool - I don't know what his wish is. He's done tremendously well for the club.
"He's done his best every time and will always get around 20 goals a season and get you close to finals and trophies. At some point, those players will want to try new things and we've seen Salah's attitude towards the club.
"It seems that it's not always aligned between Salah and the club or the manager but he's still there and playing with a smile on his face. He's very motivated with a lot of emotion and that's what we want to see in the Premier League."
Despite Saha's surprise, the Frenchman says he hopes Salah continues his career at Liverpool beyond this season, adding that fans should appreciate him while they can.
He said: "I want him to stay there and keep that competition with the clubs at the top. Salah will be up there with Erling Haaland, but while he's here, we should enjoy it. I'm sure his options will be open, if he wants to leave, he'll leave and if he wants to stay Liverpool will be happy to keep him."
Salah's career at Liverpool spans eight seasons after he joined for a then-record fee of €42million (£35.6m) from Roma in 2017. The iconic winger has scored 212 goals and assisted 90 times across 350 Premier League appearances, and won countless trophies.

His silverware return includes winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and two EFL Cups - and the Egyptian will be hoping to add to his tally this year under new coach Slot.
Salah will return to Anfield alongside his Liverpool team-mates this weekend as the third-place side take on Brentford on Sunday, August 25 at 4:30pm.
