Mohamed Salah fires Liverpool stark Man City warning ahead of title showdown
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has brushed off Manchester City's poor run of form, warning the Premier League champions will strike back. The Reds moved eight points clear at the top after beating Southampton 3-2 - capitalising on their rivals' slip-up.
City suffered a shock 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening opening up the opportunity for Arne Slot's side to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League. The Reds managed to do just that but had to overcome adversity to beat the strugglers.
Despite taking the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai, Russell Martin's side answered back with goals from Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes. Liverpool needed a second-half Salah brace to retake the lead and move clear of City ahead of their showdown next weekend.

City's defeat to the North London club extended a run of five matches without a win for Pep Guardiola, with the disappointment at the Etihad Stadium making it three straight Premier League defeats.
Despite the poor run from their North West rivals, Salah has warned they will bounce back as he eyes helping Liverpool move 11 points clear. He said: "It's great, hopefully we can keep going in the right direction.
"We have a game against them coming up, hopefully we win so we can go more ahead like 11 points. Of course [Man City are Liverpool's main title rivals], Man City have had a bad time but they're going to strike back, they have a great coach, great players.
"Hopefully we can beat them to go further (ahead)."
