Mohamed Salah reveals why he isn’t surprised by his Liverpool goalscoring form

Mohamed Salah has revealed his not surprised at him devastating goalscoring transformation since becoming a Liverpool player.

There were concerns about the Egyptian’s finishing abilities after his then club-record £35m move from AS Roma last summer given the number of chances he squandered after getting into key positions and also because of how he flopped at Chelsea.

However, that has been far from the case as Salah became the fastest Liverpool player in history to score 20 Premier League goals when he scored during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.

While this scintillating form may have shocked a number of people in the game, including Jurgen Klopp, Salah has insisted he “expected” to score a large number of goals in his debut season.

“I don't want to seem arrogant! But yeah, I expected it [on scoring a lot of goals],” he told FourFourTwo. “When I was in Rome, I was comfortable there. I had two good seasons there. I was happy.

“I always try to take another chance. I always put myself under pressure. I didn't play for Chelsea when I was here three years ago. I came back here to show my football. I think I'm doing well.”

Salah also revealed that he was a boyhood Liverpool fan and is main aim now is to help bring some silverware to Anfield.

“Ever since I was a kid, I had been a Liverpool fan – they were my favourite Premier League club,” he added. “I've loved the club since I was young and knew this was a team I wanted to play for. I knew the history that this club has and, as soon as I got the chance, I had to make it happen.

“We want to push ourselves to win something. For us, for the fans and for the club. That is and always will be our target. A trophy.”
