Bilel Mohsni's trial with Ipswich has ended after he opted not to extend his stay with the Championship club into this week.
The mercurial Frenchman endured a chequered campaign with Southend last season, gaining just as many headlines for his off-field exploits as his undoubted talent on it.
The 25-year-old refused to return to Roots Hall over the summer, stressing his desire to leave the Essex outfit.
A number of clubs have taken a look at Mohsni, with Ipswich the latest having seen him train with them last week as he scored in their 6-0 reserve rout of Cardiff. But he turned his back on an invite to extend his trial at Portman Road and has instead returned to Paris.
Manager Paul Jewell told Town's official website: "We had Bilel Mohsni here from Southend for a few days and we asked him to stay for this week because we wanted to have a longer look at him but he decided against it so that's over now."
Meanwhile, Jewell has confirmed Ipswich are taking a look at former Blackburn and Cologne defender Kevin Pezzoni.
