Monaco's Star Calls Out Pundits Who Claimed They Would 'Eat a Rat' If He Earned France Call Up

Benjamin Mendy is having a great season with Monaco.

The 22-year-old is a key part of the Ligue 1 challengers starting line-up, adding width alongside counterpart Djibril Sidibe and carving out quality chances for strikers Radamel Falcao, Kylian Mbappe and Valere Germain.

Mendy has five assists in 19 Ligue 1 games and is part of a side which has conceded 26 league goals this season, averaging less than a goal a game.

It is easy to see why the full-back would be touted for a potential France call up, but there were still some pundits who were so sure Mendy would not merit that acknowledgement that they wagered the consumption of a rat on the matter.

Two RMC journalists,  Eric di Meco and  Daniel Riolo, made the strange bet regarding Mendy's international future back in 2014, with the two claiming they would 'eat a rat', if he ever were ever called up for France.

Following his performance against Manchester City during the 3-1 Champions League win, Mendy was quite rightly called up to France's national team by Didier Deschamps, alongside teammates  Djibril Sidibe and Thomas Lemar, giving him the perfect opportunity to remind his critics of the bet they'd probably much rather forget.

Mendy posted on Twitter: "As I’m not vindictive…. I offer you a day with this new PP [profile picture]".

Given that they should be eating rats, they've done very well to escape their bet with just a change of a profile picture.
