A group of hardy Lostockers took to the Rivington moors to test themselves in an inter-club challenge last week.

Seventeen Lostock AC members completed a route of more than five miles with in excess of 1,400 feet of elevation over Winter Hill.

Having another amazing run and first to cross the line an unbelievable six minutes ahead of the pack was Paul Edwards in 40mins 30secs.

Despite taking a wrong turn, Luke Mallia still managed to finish second in a valiant 46:41, while Josie Greenhalgh - just three weeks after completing Lakes 100 - was third in 46:58, followed by sister Penny Hope in 47:12.

Other results: Andy Laycock 48:08, Tony Marlow 491:6, Chris Taylor 49:43, Gareth Pratt 51:48, Rachel Hancock 52:32, Ian Johnson 52:55, Brian Halton 56:47, Pete Noble 56:52, Ian Burns 61:30, David Wilcock 61:32, Tony Maxwell 61:59, Greg Kilshaw 65:30, Janet Rhodes 71:23, Rachel Stevens 71:23.

Elsewhere, in hot conditions, a trio of club members travelled to take part in the Fleetwood half marathon.

The course is a flat two laps, parts of which run along the seafront.

Gareth Pratt had a fantastic run and just three weeks after competing the Lakes 50, finishing in 1:42:29

Tony Maxwell put in another strong performance to be comfortably under two hours and fourth MV60 with a great time of 1:55:41.

Meanwhile, Sheila Garnewal put in a heroic finish, despite visibly suffering from horrible cramp, to be second FV60 in 2:17:53.
