More bad news for Wakefield as utility suffers early injury blow against Warrington
Wakefield will be forced to play the rest of their clash against Warrington with 16 men after Liam Kay was forced off through injury.
Kay, 31, was assisted from the field following a clash with Josh Thewlis, with the Warrington youngster opening the scoring inside the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
It’s more bad news for Mark Applegarth, who already confirmed this week that he will be without Reece Lyne for up to a month due to injury.
Samisoni Langi was also not named to feature against Daryl Powell’s side, with Lee Gaskell and Jay Pitts named in the centres.
Kay, who has also featured at hooker for Wakefield, was named on the wing for the Round 11 clash, with Lee Gaskell at centre.
Making his return from injury, Kelepi Tanginoa has moved from the back-row into the centres, moving Gaskell out to the wing.
Wakefield are 12-6 down with 20 gone on the clock, with Thewlis scoring an early brace having been named at full-back with Matt Dufty on the bench.
Given the nod in the halves over Luke Gale, Morgan Smith hit back for Wakefield, having found themselves 12-0 down. Will Dagger converting in front of the posts.
More to follow.
