CHERRIES have confirmed that Guyana international Nathan Moriah-Welsh has joined League Two outfit Newport County on a season-long loan.

The versatile midfielder will link up with the Welsh outfit in the hopes of consistent senior football to aid his development.

Moriah-Welsh received a first taste of the men's game last term, training with Scott Parker's first team in pre-season before playing in both of their FA Cup ties, featuring at right-back.

Highly-rated at Cherries, the 20-year-old carries the rare distinction of playing more games for his country at senior level than his club.

With nine caps under his belt for Guyana, Parker believed international football helped the youngster to develop.

In June, Parker told the Daily Echo that a loan move for Moriah-Welsh would be considered, depending on "whether there's an opportunity here".

Newport manager James Rowberry told the club's website: “I'd like to welcome Nathan to our club, I’m really pleased that we can add another midfield player to our ranks, he brings energy athleticism and good ball playing qualities to that department.

"I'd like to thank Bournemouth for their trust in allowing Nathan to come and join us.”
