This Morning presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond have defended the show from allegations of "toxicity" as the row revolving around Philip Schofield continues.

Schofield left the show last week after alleged reports that he and Holly Willoughby had fallen out. Dr. Ranj Singh, who appeared on This Morning multiple times across 10 years, then released a statement detailing the show's alleged "toxic" work culture.

"We happen to be in the news at the moment and, of course, we appreciate that but just from both of us and the whole team here, the crew, the guys downstairs, we love making this show for all of you," O'Leary said.

Hammond commented: "We really do, and that's exactly what we are going to do. We're going to continue to do that." She then introduced Gyles Brandreth for one of the show's segments. Brandreth then said: "We are very happy to be here. Can I say that as well?"

He continued: "It's actually a happy place to work. I enjoy coming in and have done since I began." Sonia Sodha, who was doing the segment with him, concurred.

This comes after Singh's statement, which he posted to Twitter on Sunday. In it, he alleged that he was "managed out" of the show after he complained to those at the top of ITV about the alleged toxic work culture.

Schofield himself posted his own statement refuting these comments: "Now I no longer work on @thismorning I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it's the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice."

"This Morning IS the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity."

O'Leary and Hammond previously addressed Schofield's exit after he left the show before details of Schofield's affair were revealed. ITV claimed that they investigated the affair while Willoughby released her own statement commenting on it.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
