Most intriguing games on Raptors' 2022-23 schedule

The NBA released the schedules for all 30 of its teams on Wednesday, setting the stage for the upcoming season and getting fans hyped for some big matchups to look out for.

For the Toronto Raptors and their fanbase, every game is worth getting excited about considering the talent and potential this year's team possesses.

Despite that, there are always some games that both players and fans like to circle on their calendars in anticipation of a thrilling matchup or a compelling story.

Here are some of the dates you might want to remember as you count down the days to opening tip-off.

Oct. 19 vs Cleveland Cavaliers

The Raptors will open the season at home for the 11th year in a row, this time hosting the young and exciting Cavaliers. Each equipped with a promising young core, Toronto and Cleveland should be a matchup to watch over the next few years, notably keeping a close eye on future stars Scottie Barnes and Evan Mobley.

Oct. 26, 28 vs Philadelphia 76ers

Toronto will host the Sixers for back-to-back games only a week into the new season as Nick Nurse's squad looks to exact a bit of revenge after it was eliminated in six games in the first round of last year's playoffs. Joel Embiid, James Harden and Co. will undoubtedly have to endure a raucous, hostile crowd for two straight contests as the two teams develop a rivalry atop the Eastern Conference.

Nov. 16 vs Miami Heat

Kyle Lowry's return to Scotiabank Arena last season was epic, and while you shouldn't expect there to be as long of an ovation or as much emotion in the building this time around, chances are it'll still be a memorable night for both the crowd and the former Raptors star guard, as well as a fun game between two great teams.

Dec. 18 vs Golden State Warriors

The Raptors will welcome the reigning NBA champions to Toronto in what should be one the best tests of the season for this young squad. Clashes between the two teams are always action-packed, and we're only a few years removed from the 2019 Finals, in which the Raptors beat the star-studded Warriors in six games for the franchise's first championship.

Dec. 27 vs Los Angeles Clippers

Just two days after Christmas, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers will roll into Toronto for what should be a highly-anticipated contest. Leonard and fellow former Raptor Norman Powell are likely to receive a warm welcome, with fans expressing their gratitude for the pair's contributions to the Raptors' 2019 title run. Leonard, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, is undoubtedly on a mission to reassert himself as one of the league's best players, and will perhaps want to put together a better performance than his modest 20-point outing the last time he visited Canada.

The Raptors will play a total of nine U.S. nationally-televised games in the 2022-23 season, split between TNT, ESPN and NBATV. Toronto's busiest month will be January with 16 games, and the team is slated for 12 back-to-back games — two fewer than last season.
