It was a disappointing Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign for Kaizer Chiefs after they experienced yet another season without silverware.

But with the 2016/2017 season something of the past, the Amakhosi are now licking their wounds and have already begun a clean out in preparation for the new season by releasing several underperforming players.  However, according to the club’s boss Kaizer Motaung, Chiefs will look to bring in defensive reinforcements.

Steve Komphela’s men developed a knack for conceding late goals towards the end of the campaign which subsequently saw their title hopes go up in flames, and Motaung was clearly not pleased by what he had witnessed.

“Our defence has not done us any good in terms of performance this season. They’ve actually dropped a bit,” Motaung said.

“We might be (getting new players in defence), as to be honest, with some of our players, you can see the legs are gone. So we can’t wait until reality kicks in,” Motaung concluded.
