Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell says he takes full responsibility after his side were swept aside 3-0 by struggling Hibs at home.

The Edinburgh giants moved off the foot of the Premiership table as goals from Junior Hoilett and Mykola Kukharevych had them on easy-street by the interval, with sub Josh Campbell adding a late third.

Kettlewell says there is no hiding place, and that he has to take criticism along with plaudits for a season that sees them still in fifth place.

He said: “There’s anger, real anger in the level of performance, and in every aspect of the game. I’m not going to shy away from any of them.

“We can’t make excuses about travel, referees or anything like that at all – full ownership rests with myself.

“Playing at home, we’ve never found ourselves in that type of position, being three goals down, completely out of the game, not having a real spark to instigate that thought process that we might be getting back into a game.

“We lacked quality at the top end of the pitch, in the middle of the park, and conceded the most ridiculous goals that you’ll see.

“That becomes a recipe for disaster in a game.”

Kettlewell says he will have to look deep within myself and his team ahead of a trip to Dundee on Wednesday and St Mirren next weekend.

He said: Going into a game on Wednesday, that sole responsibility lies with me to correct that and over the last two games, the five goals we’ve conceded have been amateurish, as far as I’m concerned.

“I have to put players into a position to make better decisions, where they have more confidence, going into the forward areas.

“We all want to take the praise for a good start to the season, we’ve had quite a lot of plaudits for where we’re sitting in the table and getting to a national cup semi-final, so you absolutely have to take the criticism that comes your way off the back of that result and performance.”
