The GP13 is broadly the same specific as the version of the GP12 with which Ducati ended 2012.
Works riders Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden admitted during Tuesday morning's press conferences that the 2013 bike would be a work in progress for some time as Ducati attempts to get back on course after two poor seasons.
"This is inevitable when you make a major change in the team," said Dovizioso.
"Ducati has of course continued to work on certain things that have been decided on. But we talk of proper developments we will start from Malaysia [testing].
"This is negative of course but it's not possible to do otherwise. We must think about a long-term project, a two-year project, and we will see from there."
For the first time, the launch featured the satellite Pramac bikes as well as the works team, as the secondary squad gets full factory machinery and support for 2013.
Former works Yamaha rider Ben Spies and Moto2 graduate Andrea Iannone form Pramac's new line-up.
