Jose Mourinho expects his World Cup final players back at the club on August 6, despite seven of them being involved in the tournament’s final weekend.

Mourinho is not giving an extra holiday to players who have been involved in the World Cup third-place final or even Sunday’s final.

England players Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young played against Belgium yesterday, who include fellow United players Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku.

Other England players expected back for Mourinho’s side are Phil Jones and Marcus Rashford.

Paul Pogba is also expected to return despite being on the cusp of World Cup glory with France, who take on Croatia in the final.

Manchester United will face Leicester City in the first game of the season on Friday August 10, a day or more ahead of the rest of the league, and will give World Cup players three weeks holiday.

However they may still be involved in the club’s opening game despite missing the pre-season tour to the USA.

United will play Club America on Friday, with games against San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid to follow.

Other United stars on World Cup duty include Brazilian international Fred, who joined from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier in the summer. Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian all missed the World Cup but and may leave the club.
