Mykhailo Mudryk has been working hard in the gym ahead of Enzo Maresca's prospective arrival at Cobham Training Ground. The 23-year-old forward showed great promise under Mauricio Pochettino, but he struggled to maintain the degree of consistency which his price tag demands.

He featured 31 times for Chelsea in the Premier League last season, scoring five and providing two assists. Despite a poor return in front of goal, Mudryk started just 18 games and averaged a measly 50.9 minutes an appearance.

The Ukraine international would also often only feature in the starting lineup a handful of times before returning to the bench again. After wrestling with Raheem Sterling for a place on the left wing for much of the campaign, he finally forced himself into Pochettino's plans.

Mudryk started six of the Blues' final eight Premier League games, missing the last due to concussion. Chelsea flourished with the Ukrainian in the lineup, dropping just four points in the race for European football and securing Conference League qualification.

With a new manager set to take the reins at Stamford Bridge this summer, Mudryk seems determined to keep his place in the side. On his Instagram story, the Chelsea ace reposted a compilation of his off-peak training with Dima Chapovskyi, a performance coach.

Mudryk completed some resistance training with a free weight as he appeared to build his calves before going outside to practice his shooting. As a light-hearted warm down, the Ukrainian set up a makeshift driving range and tried his hand at some golf.

With Enzo Maresca expected to take over as the new Chelsea boss, Mudryk will be keen to make a good first impression. football.london understands that Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart jetted off to Spain on Tuesday to negotiate a deal to bring the Leicester City head coach to west London.

It's believed that the Chelsea sporting directors have been mightily impressed with how Maresca has presented himself thus far. All being well, Maresca will pen a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, football.london understands.

Chelsea are hopeful that the Italian will have his feet under the desk at Cobham by the end of this week, meaning he'll be well prepared for pre-season. Maresca could make his debut in the dugout for the west Londoners against Wrexham in the United States, July 24.
