Kante could sign Chelsea contract extension as early as next week

N’Golo Kante's new Chelsea contract: Blues star signs five-year deal worth £290,000-a-week

Chelsea’s contract negotiations with N’Golo Kante could be concluded as early as next week.

Standard Sport revealed on Tuesday that Chelsea were increasingly confident over agreeing terms on a new five-year deal worth £290,000-a-week. Sources have confirmed that talks are at an advanced stage.

Kante’s current contract, worth £150,000-a-week, expires in 2021 and Chelsea have no interest in cashing in on one of their most important players.

Kante has had to get used to a new position under Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte as coach in July, being handed a more attacking role in a three-man midfield to the right of Jorginho.

Despite still adapting to the change, Kante is one of seven Chelsea players that has started every League game under Sarri.

Meanwhile, England Under-19 winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to be loaned out in January but Chelsea will push to get him to sign the five-year deal, which was offered in the summer, first.
