Nasarawa United's win over Rivers United 'thoroughly deserved', says Hassan

Four topflight clubs including last year's finalist were dumped out of the country's oldest competition in the round of 32 on Wednesday

Adamu Hassan says that Nasarawa United's victory over Rivers United at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday was 'thoroughly deserved'.

Hassan's goal helped the hosts take all three points and the striker credits their defeat of the Pride of Rivers to teamwork.

“It was a thoroughly deserved victory, as we had plenty of scoring chances," Adamu told Goal.

"Overall it was a great Nasarawa United side who were well set out.

"You don't just win games with individuals but with a team and character. Nasarawa United attacked for the entire match duration," he concluded.

Nasarawa United are now ninth in the log after garnering 29 points from 19 Nigeria Professional Football League games.
