NASCAR weather update: Rain threatens to delay Bristol race

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

The green flag for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway is scheduled to drop shortly after 2 p.m. ET Sunday, but there’s a good chance weather will delay the start of the race.

Should NASCAR not be able to get the race in Sunday, it will be reschedule for 1 p.m. ET Monday.

The race will air on Fox no matter what day it is run.

Weather has been a factor throughout NASCAR’s week in Bristol. Qualifying for the Cup race was cancelled Friday, and rain prompted a red flag during Saturday’s XFINITY Series Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 that delayed that race for about 98 minutes. The XFINITY race was eventually completed, and won by Erik Jones.

Update: The Food City 500 has been postponed and rescheduled for Monday at 1 p.m.
