Nasri's final insult to Arsenal fans

Samir Nasri has managed to annoy Arsenal fans even further in his first interview as a Manchester City player by saying he has joined a club with more 'passionate' fans.

The 24-year-old France international claims to have already been struck by an enthusiasm from supporters he did not experience at Arsenal.

Nasri completed his protracted move from the Gunners to City by signing a four-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

"I can see they are really passionate and it reminds me a little bit of Marseille," Nasri told City TV after posing for photographs at Eastlands.

"Arsenal have good fans but not that passionate since they moved from Highbury to the Emirates (Stadium). I remember when we played against City, when we lost 3-0, the crowd was amazing.

"That is what I want. When you play football it is for a good atmosphere. When I saw the fans, they had tattoos and were passionate and that's what I want."

Nasri made the comments despite never playing for Arsenal at Highbury.

To rub salt into the wounds, Nasri also said that Arsenal's former captain Patrick Viera (now Football Development Executive at City) helped persuade him to go north.

“It was important to have advice from people who know the club well and know the difference between Arsenal and Manchester City," he said.

"Patrick is a legend in France. When a player like this tells you Manchester City is the place to be, that it is the club of the future and wants to win everything, you have to listen to this. I am here to play football and to win titles, not for the sun or things like that.”

Nasri, 24, moved to the Etihad Stadium for a reported fee of £24 million where he will wear the No. 19 shirt.

He signed for Arsenal from hometown club Marseille for a reported fee of £12m in the summer of 2008 and last season was in fine form when scoring 15 goals in all competitions and winning a place on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Nasri's final Arsenal performance came on Saturday when he was warmly received by Arsenal supporters during a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
