NBA-National Basketball Association roundup

Feb 7 (The Sports Xchange) - Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins was suspended one game without pay after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season during Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls. The suspension means the All-Star center with miss Wednesday's home game against the Boston Celtics. NBA rules call for an automatic suspension of a player if he receives 16 technical fouls during the regular season. - - The Dallas Mavericks officially signed rookie point guard Yogi Ferrell to a two-year contract after he excelled during a 10-day contract with the club. Ferrell solidified that he would be remaining with Dallas when he scored 32 points and made 9 of 11 3-pointers against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. Ferrell averaged 17.2 and 5.0 assists while playing in five games -- all starts -- for Dallas. - - Lance Stephenson will attempt to revive his NBA career in Minnesota after agreeing to sign a 10-day contract with the Timberwolves, The Vertical reported. Stephenson's addition helps ease the loss of starter Zach LaVine, who tore his ACL last Saturday and is out for the season. - - It is unclear if rookie center Joel Embiid will be available Wednesday when the Philadelphia 76ers host the San Antonio Spurs. The same can be said of another of the Sixers' highly drafted centers, Jahlil Okafor, though for an entirely different reason. Multiple outlets reported that Okafor is the subject of trade talks between Philadelphia and the New Orleans Pelicans. The Sixers would reportedly receive center Alexis Ajinca and a future first-round pick in return for Okafor, though a deal had not been consummated as of early Tuesday afternoon. Embiid sat out his sixth straight game with a bone bruise of the left knee Monday when Philadelphia lost 113-96 in Detroit, and has missed nine of the last 10. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
