June 8 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without forward Kevin Love for Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers announced Wednesday afternoon that Love is listed as out for the game against the Golden State Warriors as the Finals move to Quicken Loans Arena. Cleveland returns home after dropping the first two games at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. "Love will remain in the NBA concussion protocol under the direct supervision and oversight of team physician Dr. Alfred Cianflocco, Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher of the NBA and Cavs head athletic trainer Steve Spiro," the Cavs said in a statement. "His status for Game 4 will be updated at the appropriate time." Love took an elbow from Warriors guard Harrison Barnes to the head late in the second quarter of Game 2 on Sunday night. - - - Former NBA center and Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Sean Rooks died Tuesday night in Philadelphia. He was 46. No cause of death was announced. Rooks was an assistant coach with the 76ers the past two seasons but was no longer under contract with the team. He collapsed and died while having dinner at a Philadelphia restaurant, according to reports. - - - Danny Ferry is back in the NBA as a special adviser for basketball operations with the New Orleans Pelicans, the team announced. Ferry has been out of the league for two years after making racial comments while he was with the Atlanta Hawks as general manager about then-free agent forward Luol Deng. Ferry took a leave of absence from the Hawks during an investigation and then resigned last year after he was cleared of any racial or ethnic malfeasance. Ferry, 49, spent 13 seasons in the NBA as a player, including 10 with the Cavaliers before going to the Spurs. - - - Oklahoma City Thunder part-owner Aubrey McClendon's fatal car crash in March was determined to be an accident, a medical examiner's report indicated. McClendon, a businessman and co-founder of Chesapeake Energy Corp., died from multiple blunt force trauma to the torso and extremities in the one-car crash, according to the autopsy report. A toxicology report showed no signs of alcohol in the blood. McClendon, 56, also a founder of American Energy Partners LP, died March 2 after his SUV crashed into a concrete wall at 78 mph after slowing from 88 mph just seconds before impact. A day earlier, McClendon had been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiring to rig bids for oil and natural gas leases. The charges were later dismissed. - - - Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Carter was selected by NBA players as the recipient of the 2015-16 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award, the league announced. The award recognizes the player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to his team. The 39-year-old Carter totaled 1,448 points from the players, including 65 first-place votes. Minnesota Timberwolves center Kevin Garnett finished second with 916 points (39 first-place votes) and the Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh placed third with 799 points (18 first-place votes).
