NBA-National Basketball Association roundup

Oct 13 (The Sports Xchange) - The Chicago Bulls waived guards Jake Anderson and Stefhon Hannah during training camp on Tuesday amid reports that point guard Derrick Rose might not be ready to play in the opener later this month. Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said Tuesday that Rose "most likely" will not participate in any of the team's eight preseason games and could sit out the first game of the regular season on Oct. 27 against the Cleveland Cavaliers unless he is deemed fully ready to play. Rose was expected to be cleared for full basketball activity on Wednesday after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured left orbital bone that resulted from taking an elbow to the face during a practice collision on Sept. 29. - - Golden State guard Stephen Curry offered a mock apology on Tuesday to the team's critics for winning the NBA championship in June. "I apologize for us being healthy, I apologize for us playing who was in front of us," Curry said. "I apologize for all the accolades we received as a team and individually. I'm very, truly sorry, and we'll rectify that situation this year." - - Washington Wizards forward Alan Anderson had a small bone fragment removed from his left ankle on Tuesday. Anderson had undergone left ankle surgery in May to remove spurs but was bothered by a fragment that remained and caused irritation. - - The Utah Jazz waived forwards Jack Cooley and J.J. O'Brien on Tuesday. The 6-foot-9, 260-pound Cooley was promoted from the NBA Development League last season and played in 16 games for the Jazz. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds. O'Brien, who was signed as an undrafted rookie on Aug. 28, played in one preseason game this year for the Jazz. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
