NBA-National Basketball Association roundup

Nov 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Josh Smith will continue to get paid by the Detroit Pistons through the 2019-2020 season, but with none of the 30 NBA teams willing to open a roster spot for him, Smith has signed to play in China. Smith, who will turn 31 next month, signed a $1.5 million deal to play for the defending Chinese Basketball Association champion Sichuan Whales for the next three months, according to international basketball reporter David Pick. He hopes to catch on with an NBA team after his contract in China expires. - - Indiana Pacers star forward Paul George was fined $15,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for kicking a ball into the stands and hitting a woman in the face with it during Saturday's game against the Chicago Bulls. George was ejected from the contest -- the first of his career -- for the soft kick that hit Lindsey Yeager, a Pacers employee working with the Fox Sports Indiana television crew. - - New York Knicks president Phil Jackson hasn't been pleased with the Knicks' offense through their first six games, especially the absence of the triangle offense that led Jackson to a record 11 NBA championships, according to an ESPN report. Jackson is not happy with the way new head coach Jeff Hornacek has opted to speed up the game instead of relying on the triangle, which ESPN reports the Knicks have seldom used early on.
