Report: DeMarcus Cousins signs 10-day contract with Nuggets, fourth team in 2 years

The Denver Nuggets are signing DeMarcus Cousins to a 10-day contract on Friday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported. It's the center's fourth team in two years since coming back from an ACL injury that kept him out of the 2019-20 NBA season.

The 10-day contract covers six games on the Nuggets schedule. Denver (23-20) hosts the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night and the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. They begin a six-game road trip with a trip to Detroit on Tuesday.

Cousins, 31, was released by the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of the deadline to guarantee contracts two weeks ago. He had signed with them on Nov. 30 and averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 16.9 minutes over 17 games. The Bucks were the veteran's sixth team in his 11-year playing career.

The No. 5 overall draft pick in the 2010 NBA Draft spent the first six seasons with the Sacramento Kings, but has bounced around since the 2015-16 season. He played 1 1/2 seasons for the New Orleans Pelicans and played 30 games for the Golden State Warriors in 2018-19.

After signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, he tore his ACL during an August workout in Las Vegas. It's been a slow road back for the four-time All-Star with stops in Houston and the Los Angeles Clippers in '20-21 before signing with the Bucks.
