Nedim Bajrami silenced Malmo's Eleda Stadion within the first minute of Rangers' Europa League tie this evening - equalling a 26-year old record.

The Albanian helped his side to a 2-0 win over the Swedes on matchday one with Ross McCausland hitting the second goal on what was ultimately a comfortable three points for Philippe Clement's troops. It was the first win in Sweden for the Light Blues having had six attempts in the past, losing four times and drawing twice.

But it was another record the Scottish giants ticked off their list, with Bajrami's strike the first time they have scored within one minute of a European tie since Rino Gattuso netted in 1998 against Beitar Jerusalem in the UEFA Cup.

Bajrami adores an early goal having also broke the European Championships record for Albania earlier this summer when he hit the net within a staggering 23 SECONDS against Italy.

We told earlier how manager Clement was satisfied with the win but wished his side could have put their opponents to the sword earlier. He said: "The only small thing you can say is if you kill off the game in the first-half then it's different. But I think they showed a really good game today and we'll continue working on finishing.

"Best of the season so far? Yes I think so. But it doesn't mean it'll stay the best, I think we need to work hard to make it better and better what we do."
