Former All Black Nehe Milner-Skudder has confirmed he will return to the Hurricanes on a short-term contract ahead of next year’s Super Rugby Aotearoa.
A 13-cap All Black and 2015 World Cup final starter, he had been in the Highlanders squad over the past two heavily-disrupted seasons after returning from a spell at Toulon. He has also played for Manawatu and East Coast over the past few months.
Milner-Skudder is expected to stay with the Hurricanes for a couple of months only to start with, boosting the training squad before a phalanx of All Blacks return in February.
It is unclear what might happen then, with offers from overseas on the table but with the player and his wife awaiting a new arrival. Now 30, he says that he’d rather become a father at home.
“I had a look at a few opportunities over in the States, but we have actually got our first baby – my wife and I have our first bubba due in January,” Milner-Skudder told NewstalkZB.
“So all roads lead to staying here for the arrival of our new birth.”
