Neil Magny Saves UFC Fight Night 74 Co-Main Event

Neil Magny Beats Carlos Condit in One-Sided Decision (UFC 219 Results)

With Rick Story falling out of the UFC Fight Night 74 co-main event due to injury, Neil Magny has agreed to make a quick return to the Octagon to face Erick Silva on Aug. 23 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

UFC officials confirmed the line-up change on Tuesday.

Magny (15-4) had been rocketing up the welterweight ranks to the tune of seven consecutive victories over a year and a half before stepping in the Octagon with Demian Maia on Aug. 1 at UFC 190. Maia proved to be the kryptonite to Magny's super run, as the Brazilian dominated the American en route to a second-round submission.

Not wanting to sit idly by and stew over the loss, Magny agreed to make a quick return to save the UFC Fight Night 74 co-main event when Story had to withdraw due to injury.

Silva (18-5, 1 NC) has faced his share of ups and downs in the Octagon, but enters the bout with Magny having won back-to-back fights for the first time in several years.

A pivotal featherweight bout between No. 5 ranked Max Holloway and No. 7 ranked Charles Oliveira headlines the Saskatoon fight card.
