Cameron Munster will see out his deal with the Melbourne Storm as he “loves the place” but he has yet to decide on his next move following suggestions the Brisbane Broncos could join the hunt.

Munster is off-contract at the end of 2023 and is in hot demand. The Dolphins are set to ramp up their interest after missing out on Kalyn Ponga. But there is also interest from elsewhere with the Broncos being touted as a possibility.

The Broncos are rebuilding under the leadership of coach Kevin Walters. But they have failed to come up with a settled halves pairing as things stand.

Cameron Munster linked with Broncos

Adam Reynolds has arrived from South Sydney to cement the No.7 jersey. But he needs a settled partner. Albert Kelly and Billy Walters have been unable to lock in a spot in the side. Tyson Gamble will slot in when the Broncos face the Bulldogs on Friday night.

The capture of Munster would be the ideal addition to take the No.6.

Brisbane are reported to have said they are not in the running at this stage. However there is a possibility that could change. Munster is able to accept offers for 2024 from 1st November this year. And the player’s manager Braith Anasta says anything can happen.

Speaking as co-host on NRL360 he said: “Well by November you never know.”

One thing Anasta is certain of, Munster is going nowhere in 2023. Speculation has been rife that if Munster did sign elsewhere for 2024 an early release for 2023 could be sought.

That would suit the Dolphins down to the ground. They enter the NRL in 2023 and want a big marquee signing on board. But it will not be Munster even if he did agree a switch to Redcliffe.

Staying put in 2023

Storm officials have recently said there is no chance of an early release. And now Anasta also used the platform of NRL360 to back that up. Munster is happy and will see out his contract at least.

“There is no indication they will let him go early and we have not asked for that either,” Anasta said. “Cameron loves the place, wants to stay there, never wanted to leave. At this stage there is not a chance of him going there next year.”

However it remains to be seen if he loves them enough to take a pay cut. Storm want to keep hold but his contract will drop to $750,000 per year from 2024.

It is reported that the Dolphins would keep him on the $1.2million he is currently on.
