'Never mind with what he is saying' - Mohamed Salah response clear as FSG sent Liverpool message
Mohamed Salah has admitted that he is ‘disappointed’ to have not yet made a breakthrough with Liverpool over a new contract, claiming he is yet to receive a formal offer from the Reds. The Egyptian’s current deal, along with that of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is set to expire next summer.
The 32-year-old became the best-paid player in the club’s history when signing his last extension in the summer of 2022, penning an incentivised contract worth an initial £350k a week.
Showing no sign of decline since signing his last extension, he remains Liverpool’s star player. And has been in electrifying form once again for the Reds so far this season.

Boasting 12 goals and 10 assists from just 18 appearances, he gave a rare interview after scoring a match-winning brace over Southampton on Sunday as Liverpool moved eight points clear at the top of the table.
And he addressed his current contract situation, with the forward set to be free to talk to overseas clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement from January 1, as he reiterated his desire to stay put at Anfield.
It is understood that there remains a willingness on both sides to reach an agreeable conclusion, with discussions that are said to be positive and constructive ongoing with Ramy Abbas, the Colombian lawyer who represents Salah.
"Well, we are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in," Salah conceded. "You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands.
“As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let's wait and see. Of course [no offer is disappointing], yeah.
“I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see.”
Unsurprisingly, Salah is not the only person to be disappointed that his contract situation is yet to be resolved. Liverpool supporters were left in disbelief following the Egyptian’s comments as they vented their frustration at the club.
On the ECHO website, Hakdaddy said: “Very very very frustrating... My patience is wearing thin with this, never should be in this position where Salah, Trent and VVD could leave in Jan on a free transfer next season.”
Artur also commented: “No brainer! Mo will be playing top class football into his late thirties! We all love him. Class player, class man. If FSG let him go they’ll never be forgiven.”
Anfield Voice said on Facebook: “It would be a massive failure from Edwards and Hughes if they let Mo Salah leave on a free. You simply can’t lose a world-class talent like him. Sort out the contract and keep him at the club—it’s an absolute no-brainer!”
Svetoslav Sitev hit out at owners FSG as he wrote: “It disgrace if FSG doesn't offer him new contract, he is the top dog, still deliver at 32 and can still deliver for few more years. Same as Virgil and Trent. You won't find better player then Salah or on same level as him at the moment.”
Philip Delaney agreed as he commented on Facebook: “Fsg have dropped some clangers over the years but this is different level.”
Stephen Turner urged the club to give Salah a new contract, writing: “Don't let us down give him a new contract for at least two more years.”
John Potter commented: “Pay what ever he wants , he’s just world class.”
Henry Ho was concerned that the ongoing saga could derail Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge as he wrote: “How we can keep at the top of league without Mo!?”
Meanwhile on Twitter, Benjamin Edwards echoed similar sentiments, posting: “These I going transfer sagas will derail our season. It’s totally insane.”
Cathal Robinson shared his annoyance at FSG as he wrote: “Disgraceful by the club, not to even offer him a contract yet, what are FSG and Richard Hughes waiting for, he's in fantastic form.”
Alex Hilton posted: “Alarming to see him talk at all, never mind with what he is saying. Not good from #LFC or #FSG.”
Kulalowjnr also vented his frustration with the club’s owners, writing: “FSG will be a disgrace if Salah moves on to another. @LFC hurry up and give the King a new contract ASAP.”
As did MikeLFC1906, commenting: “Unforgivable if they don’t give him what he deserves.”
Amine Ben Lakhal said: “It’s beyond pathetic at this point that we haven’t tied Salah to a new contract yet.”
Pablo the Red called for a swift resolution, writing: “The owners need to sort it soon otherwise there will be uproar by the fans….”
Niall Mclaughlin was in disbelief at the hold-up, posting: “If they don’t offer him anything, there’s going to be riots, what are they doing?”
Daphne commented: “How the hell can you not offer a player like this anything.”
Steven Thomas now believes Salah is definitely leaving the club, writing: “That to me says he’s gone then. Absolutely unforgivable from those in key roles at the club.”
Steven Hastie though was unimpressed at the saga taking a public turn, posting: “Much prefer the clubs stance of saying nothing in public!”
However, some supporters remained relaxed about Salah’s situation.
Dfitzgeralds wrote: The overreaction to this is hilarious. All part of negotiations. And what Mo is offered is linked to the contract talks with Trent and VVD. No formal offer doesn’t mean there haven’t been constructive talks.
Pas de nom doesn’t think it would be the end of the world if Salah left the club, posting: “Thanks for memories and services. Excited for our future under Arne. He needs his own leaders, not Jurgen’s. Let him build his team and it starts with cutting out Mo. Great stats but the football is not good enough for 350k pw. Not at this age certainly.”
And back on the ECHO website, MadridRed37 shared his belief that Salah will still sign a new contract with the club.
He wrote: “It is concerning, but if this is true "it is understood that there is a willingness on both sides to reach an agreeable conclusion", I think they will find a way to get it done. I would be more worried about TAA leaving on a free. Real Madrid is letting people know they have already worked out a contract (with Trent yet to make a final decision).”
